Modernisation of Blood Transfusion Centres in Romania
The project of the National Institute of Transfusion Haematology, which took place at the end of 2020, consisted in the purchase and implementation of modern equipment necessary to optimize the process of storage and preservation of blood and its components in the 41 Blood Transfusion Centres in the country.
In order to ensure optimal storage conditions for blood and its components, the National Institute of Transfusion Haematology invested in the following equipment:
• Blood Bank Refrigerators: These have been distributed to all 41 Blood Transfusion Centres, the refrigerators having been selected following a rigorous process of assessing specific needs and requirements.
• Plasma bag freezers: In order to ensure adequate preservation of plasma, specialised freezers were purchased. These were distributed to all 41 Blood Transfusion Centres, ensuring an adequate freezing temperature and maintaining the integrity of the blood components.
• Ultra-low temperature freezers: In addition to standard freezers, the Institute has also invested in ultra-low temperature freezers, which can keep blood and its components at the extreme temperatures needed in certain special situations.
• Fast plasma bag freezers for the 6 regional centres: To ensure greater efficiency and reduced processing time, fast plasma bag freezers were purchased. These have been installed in the 6 regional centres, facilitating proper handling and storage of plasma in a short time.
To ensure the correct and efficient use of the new equipment, medical staff in all 41 Blood Transfusion Centres received specialised training. Chronos Trade Medical provided theoretical and practical training, familiarising medical staff with the new equipment and procedures for storing or preserving blood and its components. This training aimed to ensure a safe and efficient working process in accordance with the highest quality standards.
In addition to the theoretical training, medical staff had the opportunity to carry out practical samples of rapid freezing of plasma bags. These tests took place under the close supervision of specialists, ensuring that staff were trained to use the equipment correctly and follow the appropriate procedures.
This modernisation of the Blood Transfusion Centres is a significant step towards ensuring the quality and safety of donated blood and its components. By investing in state-of-the-art equipment and training medical staff, the National Institute of Transfusion Haematology demonstrates its commitment to public health and the efficiency of the blood transfusion system.
Containers for vaccines transport
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the efficient and safe transport of vaccines has become a major priority. In order to ensure optimal transport conditions, have been purchased B Medical Systems transport containers, which have demonstrated reliability and efficiency in this field.
These transport containers are specifically designed to maintain optimal temperature and monitor temperature and humidity exposure. They are equipped with LogTag Analyzer, an advanced monitoring device that records and displays temperature and humidity data. The temperature set point for vaccine transport is between -0.5 and 8°C and frozen blocks are used to maintain this temperature.
One of the key features of these transport containers is their high shock resistance. They are designed to cope with difficult transport and handling conditions, ensuring the integrity of the vaccines during the journey. Also, the extended cold shelf life allows transport over longer distances with rigorous temperature control.
Another important aspect is the environmentally friendly insulation, which provides optimal protection against temperature exposure. This insulation helps to maintain the stability of the internal temperature, avoiding unwanted variations that can affect the quality of the vaccines.
B Medical Systems transport containers are optionally equipped with data and temperature recorders for complete traceability of vaccines. These recorders allow continuous monitoring of transport conditions and provide critical data recording for quality assessment and control.
The safety of the vaccines during transport is ensured by lockable closures, which prevent loss of contents and provide access control to the inside of the container. Furthermore, B Medical Systems transport containers are certified for all modes of transport (road, rail, sea and air), complying with international standards and regulations specific to each mode of transport.
Cleaning these containers is easy and can be done with conventional disinfectants, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for vaccines. They are designed to be stackable, thus taking up less space during storage and handling.
The robustness of these containers has been demonstrated in drop and stack tests, guaranteeing vaccine protection even under extreme conditions. The material used, high quality indestructible polypropylene, gives these containers increased durability and strength. In addition, B Medical Systems offers a lifetime corrosion warranty on these containers.
In conclusion, B Medical Systems transport containers are a reliable and efficient solution for transporting vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. They ensure optimal temperature, monitoring and protection conditions, complying with international standards and facilitating the safe and efficient transport of vaccines to final recipients.
